Nigerian Researcher At Massachusetts Institute Breaks World Records, Develops Prototype For Smallest GPS Tracker

Oluwatobi “Tobi” Oyinlola, a Nigerian researcher at MIT, set a Guinness World Record for developing the smallest GPS tracking prototype, measuring just 22.93 mm by 11.92 mm. His fascination with technology began at 13 when his school received donated computers. This early exposure ignited his curiosity, leading him to explore how science and technology can solve real-world challenges. Oyinlola's innovations intersect with IoT, AI, and urban data, and he previously pioneered Nigeria’s first pay-as-you-go solar energy systems. His GPS device, featuring a custom-printed circuit board, onboard microcontroller, embedded antenna, and Bluetooth connectivity, is designed for compact, low-power tracking solutions. Recognized globally for his contributions, Oyinlola aims to create technologies that solve problems and improve everyday life, inspiring others to view technology as a force for good.
